Hi, my name is Leo.

My Cool Face Immortalized in Oil Pastel
My Cool Face Immortalized in Oil Pastel

At the time of posting, I’m a senior in high school with a lot on my plate. I’m almost done with all of my college applications, my hardest class is a ten second animation test, and I have a BIG project due after spring break: my SENIOR THESIS!!!!!!!!! Usually, a thesis is a big research paper or a single sentence in an opening paragraph, depending on who you’re asking. For art students like myself, a thesis is a long research paper in tandem with a piece of art.

As of recently, I’ve been focusing on the use of oil pastels and impressionism, the main subject matter being myself. Not only because I’m self centered, but also because I hate making art of myself. It’s like exposure therapy of my face. The thesis artwork itself is about how I view loneliness.

LONELINESS: It’s Super Funky.

Loneliness to me is not negative; It’s like a disco club where the only person there is you, but you’re everywhere. You own  the disco club, you have the keys. The door is locked 90% of the time, but you can let a close friend or two in every once in a while, but letting one or two people in doesn’t mean the disco club is OPEN. It’s more like… closed indefinitely.

I’m gonna make a huge oil pastel painting accompanied with a light up stained glass sign. No matter which way you flip it, it's still gonna say “CLOSED”. The painting may be of me dancing, or laying on a pool table looking super awesome, or sitting at the bar gazing at my domain. Still need to decide.

Cliffhanger!!!

Another big project I decided to put upon myself is opening a fan art shop. Not necessarily for profit— but that is also a small part— but to spread my art and make people happy. So far, I’ve made no sales.

BUT THAT’S OK!!!!!!!!! Because I actually put myself out there and opened an online shop where I’m actively NOT losing money (like the first time). I make a profit of, like, five dollars per item. That’s not a lot, but I don’t care. I want my art in the people’s hands!!!!!!  It’s gonna be awesome. Everything is so awesome and cool. So far I only have keychains (and a standee or two), but I want to put up stickers. as well.
